This is the question my hubby is currently asking me. We will celebrate it in June 2013. He asked if I wanted jewelry. I’m not really a jewelry person I have some pieces I wear daily. But I don’t swap them out too much. So, of course I said no to that. I want experiences now! He asked me if I wanted to go to Athens or maybe Paris. Of course I shouted yes to both. His mean spirited side came out and he said, Ok. Athens, GA and Paris, TN it is. Har dee har har! What’s wrong with him.
So then I really started thinking. What do I want? I would love to visit Waikiki, HI. To go to Waikiki hotels and enjoy the sun, surf and beach is a dream of mine. Maybe one day. My cousin is there too. I’d love to visit her and get to know her better like I knew her when we were younger. (Hi, LB!) 🙂 The problem is that this is a vacation we can not afford right now.
So, I need inexpensive anniversary ideas for our 20th. We always thought we’d have more money and be able to travel the world at this point. But with 3 children, 3 pets, a home, etc we don’t tend to have enough extra money to travel. We travelled to Chicago (somewhere I had wanted to visit) this summer and came back early to save money! LOL And to be honest, I’m just not a big city girl.
What’s your dream 20th wedding anniversary trip/activity/item? I’m curious what you guys would do on your anniversary. Let’s be honest I’d love to go to Waikiki but a night at the Hampton Inn down the road without children may be all we do! A pool and a night to sleep uninterrupted by children sounds like heaven!

why not rent a cute little cottage place for the two of you on Tybee Island, GA? it’s cute and romantic 🙂
I have been married 26 years. We took a vacation last summer to Gatlinburg, TN. We took our son, who was 4 at the time. We rented a small condo that had a living room, kitchenette, master bedroom with full bath, and a gorgeous view from our 4 story room. We were overlooking the town of Gatlinburg from the side of a mountain and it was gorgeous. The condo had a pull out sofa in the living room so we had privacy at night. We didn’t have lots of money to spend, but we had a great time. The condo was $400 for 5 nights and we spent an additional $800 on food and recreational activities. It was the first vacation we had taken since our honeymoon in 1986! It was well worth the $1200! We did day activities like the zoo, swimming, and the aquarium. But if you don’t want to take the kids and center your activities around things the kids will enjoy, you can plan one for adult activities like music and shows. There are LOTS of sites online where you can get discounts for vacations. I would recommend choosing a location by searching the internet to see what interests you. Once you settle on a location, then search for the deals online. If Gatlinburg interests you, I would highly recommend the place we stayed. It was clean and very comfortable. Send me a message if you want the info. I still have the name and phone number for the condo! They have condos with 1,2, and 3 bedrooms too. Have fun planning!
