I was compensated for attending the grand opening of a kroger in my area and given a tour of their impressive new store.

Kroger invited me to attend one of their grand openings in my area. I have to say that I was so very impressed and learned a lot about the store that I did not know before. For instance this store has a Murray’s Cheese shop. They get all kinds of specialty cheeses that they choose by taste and choose just for Kroger. Check out the picture above of all their amazing cheese. They had a huge selection of many different kinds of cheese. Cheese I had never heard of. Cheese that they are happy to tell you what to pair with it. All you need to do is ask and they will give you ideas of what to serve it on and with. What wine goes best with what cheese. They are specially trained to work in this cheese shop and know exactly what you’ll need to throw that great party!
They also have a huge sushi shop. Their chefs are all expertly trained and that includes the sushi area. Make sure you check them out and try their sushi. It was amazing.
They have a nice big area of natural selection foods. Over 2000 products in this area. This makes me as a momma happy. I have tried to begin buying organic when I can afford it. I want my kids to eat as little pesticides as possible. Krogers selection definitely makes this possible. Makes me glad to be a Kroger shopper for sure.
Their deli selection is huge now too. They had all kinds of yummy meat and 2 side meals for 6.99 a plate from11-7pm. Tons of new and different foods like an arugula grilled cheese sandwich on sourdough or a crustini with tenderloin. Both of these were so yummy. I had to taste test. I couldn’t go and not tell you if it was good. I’ll be honest I can not stand dijon mustard and they did have that on a few items. But aside from the dijon mustard everything was wonderful. Their cupcakes are in their deli area. Look how pretty they are now.
And the taste of these cupcakes are divine. I have had their cakes in the past and I did not really enjoy them. They had a cough syrup flavor (keep in mind this was at least 10 years ago). But I had sworn off their cakes. Until I tried these cupcakes. These are as fresh and yummy as the other well known bakerys that sell cupcakes. There was no chemical taste and they were yummy. Heaven in a cupcake! So very good. I would not mind getting my cake from Kroger for my kids birthday. Matter of fact I will in October when my son’s birthday is.
My local Kroger sells locally farmed items too. They have farmers images up and where their farms are located. I loved seeing the tomatoes that were on sale for .99/lb from a farmer quite close to me. That makes me happy that they are working with the local US farmers. Here’s some examples of other local items. They had soaps, lip balms, body butters, salves,
lotions, jellys and jams too.
In the seafood department they have this EZ4U bag that they will bag up everything you need to go home and bake their seafood in this bag. What a great way to get some convenience food and yet still have it be fresh and nutritious. Yummo! They told us that there will never be milk that just expired sitting on their shelves either. I just had this happen at another store too. I went to buy milk and had to go back 3 containers to find one with an expiration date that wasn’t that day. That shouldn’t happen! Kroger marks it down 10 days before expiration. If it’s not sold at 5 days before they donate it to a local food bank. I loved this about Kroger! Donating to some place that can and will use their milk is awesome. Kroger has a pharmacy that will auto-refill your prescriptions too. You can still call it in if you prefer though. Most locations have a Little Clinic in case you can’t get in to see your doctor. They are running great sports and camp physicals for $29 right now. They hours of operation are M-F from 8-7:30 or Sat 8-5 and Sun 10-5. I’ve not used their Little Clinic but it’s great to know it’s there for me.
If you sign up for their fuel points on their website you can earn double fuel points from now until July 27. I love their double fuel points program. I get most of my gas at Kroger. One last thing they have sensors now that helps predict how many registers need to be opened at a given time. Their average check out time is 35 seconds. So there should be no more then 2 people in line before a new register is opened. I loved my experience at this Kroger launch. It was a fascinating time to learn about all things Kroger had to offer that I had no idea about! Thanks kroger for launching and inviting me to attend.

Love that cheese selection! The cupcakes are just too cute!
Fancy! I love Kroger.
Kroger was always my favorite store when I lived in the North. I miss it a lot as I’ve found no store to take its place since living in the South.
This looks like a whole new way to shop. We have Ralphs out here and I miss my Kroger stores, they were always a step above the general grocery store. This looks like no exception with the artisan style finds you found!
I really hope Kroger comes to Chicago one day – I have heard so much about it
That cheese selection looks amazing! I love how grocery stores are becoming so much more than the place you dash in and out of in search for the essential basics. – Katy
Wow! It sounds like an amazing store. You had me at the cheese department. I LOVE cheese!
We don’t have Kroger’s near us, but I love going there when I travel.
Wow, that looks more like a WHOLE foods and less like a Kroger. Very nice!
