Wise Words: Our Actual Friends

A friend of mine has asked that I participate in her wise words series. I am so happy to oblige! Here’s the quote:

“How often we find ourselves turning our backs on our actual friends, that we may go and meet their ideal cousins.” – Henry David Thoreau

What does this mean to you? To me it means we are always looking for the greener side of the fence. We overlook what we already have in favor of something new and shiny. New and shiny is not necessarily better for us then the old faithful that we have always been friends with.

Make sure you don’t overlook what you already have. Good friends are hard to come by. Don’t toss them aside for new ones that may not work out after all. Be the good friend you’d want them to be to you and you will have friends for life.

Here’s to the friends in my life, the new and the old! I love and need you all!
