We just celebrated 20 years of marriage last week. We had a very low key celebration. Just me and him and a trip to the beach. It was quite lovely actually. We walked on the beach and held hands. We ate a nice dinner out at a lovely seafood restaurant and we then came home and watched a redbox. We&#8217;re not fancy people. We just enjoy spending time together. To me it still seems like it was just yesterday I married him. I can&#8217;t believe it&#8217;s been 20 years and 3 kids later.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>If you ask couples who have been together a long time how they&#8217;ve stayed married so long you get a similar answer. We never fell out of love at the same time. But there&#8217;s more to that. You also have to be able to give and take. That goes for all things. When he&#8217;s having a bad day I get out of the way. When I&#8217;m having a bad day I put myself in time out. &nbsp;You learn to say I&#8217;m sorry and you are forgiven. You become able to take things less personally and know that a bad day is sometimes just a bad day. You ride out the good times and the bad times. You invite God into your marriage and your life and you let him do the guiding.
