We all want a happier marriage. What tips and tricks are in yours? Here are a few of mine.

1. Understand that your partner may have a bad day occasionally and may take it out on you. That doesn’t make it right but by understanding it’s not about you you can go on with your day and avoid said “cranky pants.” When my dh is having a bad day I tend to go to my room and hibernate or all of a sudden have a book that I have to review.

2. Help when you can without being asked. My dh does this way better than me. If he’s up he’ll ask me if I need anything. I don’t always think to ask him. It’s one area I need to work on. He is also good about helping with dishes without being asked.

3. Appreciate what each other brings to the relationship. I so appreciate my husband working a full time job so that I can be here to take care of the kids and work part time. I try to tell him, I know I need to tell him more often though. He tells me he appreciates me often, not with flowers just with his words.

4. Be there for their sexual needs as well. Sometimes it’s not about us and we just need to say yes and go with the flow. I’m not telling you to say yes all the time. If you have a headache or you had a bad day we don’t always want sex. But if you can say yes, do.

5. Make it a point to have a date night. We are the worst at this one. We do sneak away together and sometimes just have a snack out away from the kids while we run errands. One day the kids won’t be here and I need to be ready and all in with my hubby then. Lucky for us this week we get a date night. The kids are going to their gym for Parents Night out and we are so taking advantage of that!

Just spend time together. It’s so nice to have a special someone to do things with and for. Make it a point to tell them you love them and do something nice for them just because today! It helps your marriage!

To keep your marriage alive you have to have some tips and tricks in your arsenal.
