I know that it was harder
than I ever thought it would be. When I was about half way finished with the first draft of The Land
of Tears, I found out my husband and I were expecting our first child. On top of that, my husband got
orders sending us to Germany for three years. So, at four months pregnant, I moved half way across the
world, with the manuscript still only half completed. I have no idea how I only managed to squeeze out
about one chapter in those four months. I actually don’t remember much about my first trimester at all
as I slept it away.
The whirlwind of moving didn’t settle down until well into September – almost three months
later. That was when my belongings finally arrived and I could unpack. Of course, this was at the same
time that my husband was sent on a mini-deployment and I was completely on my own. In those few
weeks after I unpacked and he returned, I did manage to almost complete the first draft.
The last few chapters were difficult to work on at all. I was juggling cooking, cleaning, doctor
appointments, and all those other little things that have to get done every day. Luckily, I found enough
free moments to get it finished before my son was born.
That was when the real challenge started. Being a first time mom is hard. Being a first time mom
in a foreign country with no friends or family was the near death of me. On top of all the cooking and
cleaning, I had all the baby things to do. And, as every mother knows, with little sleep. Whenever I stole
a few minutes to work on editing The Land of Tears, I felt like I was neglecting my husband.
But, I am lucky enough to have married an incredibly supportive man. He took over baby duty
after work and never complained that I was paying more attention to a Word document than him. With
my new routine established, the editing was finished faster than I ever expected. I just had to get used
to writing on a schedule instead of when the motivation hit.
It took a lot longer than I hoped for the third Kindred Blood novel to be released, but it gave me
a difference sense of accomplishment. As hard as it was, my passion for writing pulled me through to
the end.

VBT Schedule – The Flash of a Firefly (Book 1)
Apr 2: ReadingDiva’s Blog (Giveaway/Interview)
Apr 3: Aine P Massie (Review)
Apr 4: She Who Blogs Behind The Rows (Giveaway/Guest Post)
Apr 5: Coffee Beans & Love Scenes (Giveaway)
Apr 6: More from Mom (Guest Post)
Apr 7: The Bornean Bookworm (Giveaway/Guest Post)
Apr 8: Krazy Book Lady (Interview)
Apr 9: Literati Shuffle (Giveaway/Review)
Apr 10: TBD
Apr 11: Imogene Nix (Giveaway/Guest Post)

VBT Schedule – The Well of Truth (Book 2)
Apr 12: Coffee Beans & Love Scenes (Giveaway)
Apr 13: More from Mom (Guest Post)
Apr 14: The Bornean Bookworm (Giveaway/Guest Post)
Apr 15: Krazy Book Lady (Giveaway/Interview)
Apr 16: ReadingDiva’s Blog (Interview)
Apr 17: She Who Blogs Behind The Rows (Giveaway/Guest Post)
Apr 18: Full Moon Bites (Guest Post)
Apr 19: Literati Shuffle (Giveaway/Review)
Apr 20: Sapphyria’s Book Reviews (Review)
Apr 21: Bookin’ It Reviews (Giveaway/Guest Post)

VBT Schedule – The Land of Tears (Book 3)
Apr 22: Krazy Book Lady (Giveaway/Interview)
Apr 23: More from Mom (Guest Post)
Apr 24: Coffee Beans & Love Scenes (Giveaway)
Apr 25: Full Moon Bites (Giveaway/Guest Post)
Apr 26: I Just Wanna Sit Here and Read!
