Immortal Voyage

Before the time of the great pyramids, there was a place like none other, a city of glass and metal rising from the depths of the ocean. Shrouded in mist, the island of Hy-Brasil and its capital Atlantis lay hidden from the rest of the world by its people, a race of long lived, interstellar nomads.

What secrets would you keep to save your kingdom? On the Queen’s deathbed, the sonless King Rowe is force into a promise to allow his five daughters to marry for love. A promise he wished he had never made, and one he will have to break, to save the kingdom from his squabbling, incompetent son-in-laws.

The youngest of five daughters, Jael, spent most of her time at her father’s side learning to run a kingdom. Believed to be the King’s favorite, Jael is shocked when he betroths her to a longtime friend of his, Prince Sarik of Hy-Brasil. Soon she will learn that world is full of secrets and one of them is her very own birth. Will the secret that bonds her to Sarik be the ultimate downfall of a kingdom?

Excerpt for Immortal Voyage

Jael sat on the bench in the courtyard, like she had done a thousand times.
Her mind was still reeling from the conversation she had with her father,
and although she did not wish to remain a maiden her whole life, the man
her father chose was a far cry from what she wished for in a husband. The
thought of being married to a man more than thirty years her senior made
her stomach lurch. Why had her father chosen her for this task? She had an
older, unmarried sister and always believed herself to be the favorite.
Her father’s betrayal stung her eyes.

She played back his words in her mind. “I know this is not what you had
planned, but things have changed. We need a strong heir for the clan, and
Prince Sarik is doing this out of friendship. I know you have never met
him, and despite your age difference, he would make a good husband and
strong ally,” her father explained.

“I’m to be married to an old man for the sake of Eir?” Jael had never
known her father to waver from his belief that his daughters should marry
for love, so his sudden change of heart confused her.

He paced the floor in front of the hearth in his private chambers. “I made
this decision with a heavy heart. I can no longer wait on your sisters to
give me a grandson, nor can I trust any of their husbands. I need Sarik to
help rule when I am gone and can think of no better daughter to rule with
him.”

Tears fell down her face. “But he is so old!” Jael cried, hoping he would
change his mind at the sight of her tears.

Rowe sat in his chair and put his fingertips together under his chin. “I
have arranged for you to leave for Hy-Brasil at week’s end. You will stay
there a full lunar cycle, and if you still feel you are unable to wed him
by the end of the time, you may come home, and I will offer him Lenni.”

She stifled her tears as his word sunk in. She would be given a chance to
turn the marriage down. “If that is your wish, my Laird, I will do my best
to honor it.” Jael curtsied and left the room.

Night fell while she sat on the bench, and Jael shivered as the cold wind
started to blow. The sound of horses at the front of the house caught her
attention, so she went to investigate. Halis and Edric had just arrived
from their cottage. Jael rushed to her sister and threw her arms around
her as if she hadn’t seen her in years.

As soon as Halis saw Jael’s tearstained face, she frowned and said to
Edric, “I’ll see you in the great room later,” before walking off with Jael.

“What troubles you, sister?” she asked as they walked to the room she and
Jael had shared.

“Father has betrothed me to Prince Sarik,” she cried.
