Author: Amber Riley
Publisher: Self
Length: Approx. 50,000 words
Genre: YA Paranormal/Fantasy Romance

BLURB:
Kaden has made a promise to the Iustitia. In exchange for helping the vampire hunters rid Rome of their supernatural infestation, he will never be hunted by the church-assuming he makes it out of the country alive. With a master vampire who is letting the city be terrorized, Kaden must uncover his true motives before it is too late.

Something dangerous is closing in on Kaden, and he cannot afford to be weak. Inside Vatican City,
the vampires are more vulnerable than they have ever been. But with his independence on the line,
Kaden is breaking every rule in the book, putting everyone’s lives at risk. Worse yet, he is feeling things again-things he has not felt in centuries. He must find a way to completely sever his ties with the past. Unfortunately, in a city that is supposed to be off limits to all vampires, Kaden finds more than he bargained for-and loses even more.

“The Well of Truth” tells a haunting tale in which a hardened vampire will realize that some secrets are better left in the dark.

Sullivan was pulled backward. I didn’t dare take my eyes from Tobias. He appeared to be sleeping, but vampires could be excellent actors. That was one reason I hesitated to go into the room. The other reason was fear. The room was a vampire’s hell, and I didn’t want to be anywhere near it. I would never survive being locked inside.

“Kaden, stop,” Vin demanded. “Get away from the door.” There was the sound of impact and he began coughing.

I chanced it. I looked back. Flo’s back was blistered and red, Stu’s face was covered in blood, and Sullivan’s neck was slowly healing from a large gash. There wasn’t any time left to waste. I had to kill him and get us out of the
tunnels safely.

I turned to the tomb again and jumped, banging my head on the stone. Tobias was sitting with his legs crossed and his hands curled over his knees. He looked up at me calmly with angry hazel eyes.

“Hello,” he said hoarsely. “I don’t believe we’ve met.”

Guest Post from Amber Riley

If I had to pick one thing that got me through writing The Well of Truth, it would be all of the
encouragement I received. Not all of my friends and family members are vampire fans, so not all of
them have read my work. But, that didn’t stop them from being supportive.
There wasn’t a time that any of them made me feel bad for holing myself up to write. When I
give myself deadlines, I’m very serious about them. I had to turn down a lot of invitations from friends to
finish on time. Not once did they give me a hard time.
My grandparents were there to encourage me every step of the way. It was great knowing that
if I ever started to lose heart, there was someone to build me back up. A few other family members,
including my mother and brother, hadn’t known I was serious about writing until my first novel was out.
After they read The Flash of a Firefly, I was asked constantly how The Well of Truth was coming along.
That reminded me that there were people outside my family, complete strangers, who were
also eagerly awaiting the second book. Reviews were put up from people I didn’t know saying that they
looked forward to seeing where things went. It was a great feeling, and it helped keep me motivated.
There was also my husband. He is not only a non-reader, but a very anti-vampire person. I can’t
make it through an episode of The Vampire Diaries or True Blood without him mocking something that
happened. But, despite the fact that he has never read my writing, he has always encouraged me to
keep going. He even lets me bounce ideas off him knowing that I’m not really asking his opinion.
I’m very lucky to have people in my life that are so understanding and supportive. I wish that
every aspiring author had the same. Not everyone understands how much work goes into writing a
book, but if you stick it out, you can get it done.
