I try so hard to eat right. I want to be healthy. But I fail in so many areas. One of these areas I fail in is artificial sweeteners. I’m writing this because I already have a love/hate relationship with artificial sweeteners. I believe, that my reaction to sugar has caused me to seek out the artificial sweeteners. There is diabetes in my family and I believe that I have prediabetes. My fasting blood sugar is usually 102 or so. Anything over 100 is pre-diabetic. Looks like me! So, I switched to the diet soft drinks. Yesterday I drank a fully loaded sugared soft drink and hated myself the rest of the day. I was cranky and irritable almost immediately. Ok, so no more sugary drinks.
Then I come home and watch Dr. Oz that I had dvr’d. What’s he talking about? Why artificial sweeteners are bad for you? For one, they cause your bladder to work over time. If you pee more than 8 times a day that is not normal. It’s almost 10am and I bet I have already been 5 times. I’ve been having UTI in the last year more frequently and had a kidney stone. I never attributed it to artificial sweeteners. But it looks like I need too. Once I cut the artificial sweeteners out I’m no longer having to pee all the time all day long! Stevia, is a natural sweetener, and it’s growing in my yard. It’s just not my favorite natural sweetener. Time to use it more and fall in love with it now! I am going to have to dig it up and bring it in the house this winter.
Some other symptoms you may be feeling/having are: diarhea, irritability, metabolic syndrome and even sluggishness and fatigue. Be careful with your food. It is the fuel for your body. Our job is to be putting in all natural foods that God made. Not the food that man made. Any artificial sweetener issues that you have seen?
